The Yellowstone Lake hat is an ode to the power of Yellowstone.
It's vastness, it's dangerous mystery, and the unknown destiny of this volcanic
summit crater have drawn explorers, men seeking Manifest Destiny in the New World.
Like a siren, it haunts, and the first white man to have come upon her was John Colter.
His epic journey was a discovery of a thermal area near present day Cody, Wyoming,
which would become known as Colter's Hell. From there he would travel through the
Tetons, along the Gallatin Range, through Yellowstone Park's Lamar Valley and through
the "Gap" at present day Cooke City, Montana. Then, he traversed the Sunlight Basin
area and out onto the Big Horn Basin en route back to Fort Raymond.
